RDS products have been tested in nuclear power plant settings. Our products and engineering services provide improved decontamination, lowered dose, reduced down time, and major cost savings in the cleanup incurred in the shutdown phase.
Our patent-pending solutions are effective on Radioactive Halogens such as iodine and fluorine; Transition Metals such as cesium and cobalt; and Actinides such as uranium, plutonium, and americium.
We have introduced our products and services to nuclear power generating facilities and national laboratories. Published data (available upon request) shows remarkable decontamination results (High Decontamination Factors (100 to 500) are common).

Reduce Cavity DECON Critical Path By 2-6 Hours

By using Radiation Decontamination Solution’s “Quick Decon” TM (Transition Metal) solution, and following the suggested method described below, there is a high expectation to meet or beat the above claim.  Since RDS’s ”Quick Decon” TM is formulate without soaps or surfactants, there is no concerns that it will plug up or harm the wastewater resin beds.  It is 98% water and safe for human skin contact according to FDA.  It is recommended that you use “Quick Decon” TM full strength (undiluted) for best results.  Therefore, the following procedure is suggested:
1.  Start decontamination of the cavity as you drain the water from the cavity.
                a. Use pressurized garden sprayers containing the undiluted Transition Metal solution.
                b. Use “scrubbies” or “doodle bugs” supplied by FrHam Safety Products.
                c. Use appropriate safety clothing and equipment, also supplied by FrHam.
2.  As the water recedes from the cavity, exposing the “bathtub ring” or other residues, use the “Quick Decon” TM solution with a doodlebug to scrub away the residues.  Remember, “Quick Decon” TM is not a soap, so vigorous scrubbing may be necessary.
3.  Rinse away the scum residue with water or more “Quick Decon” TM solution and continue spraying the walls down as the water recedes.
4.  Rinse away the “Quick Decon” TM solution with water.
5.  After the cavity is drained, a final spray with “Quick Decon” TM and rinse should complete the cavity decon.  Do not let the “Quick Decon” TM solution dry!  Spot decon may be needed for stubborn residues.
“Quick Decon” TM contains CHLORINE FREE methyl cellulose as a thickener to prolong contact time on vertical surfaces.  If you are concerned with TOC (Total Organic Carbon), RDS can formulate the product without the thickener.  Please Specify when ordering.
