RDS solutions are the world’s most effective and safest solution for radiation decontamination of radioactive surfaces including human skin. Our solutions, developed by a combination of nuclear pharmacists, nuclear chemists, radiation experts and NASA consultants with many years of experience in the nuclear and medical device industry succeeded in the goal  to develop a formula that would safely and significantly remove radioactive material from human skin and on other surfaces in the event of a nuclear event.

Until our scientists developed the RDS solutions, there was no scientific or high-tech way of performing radiation decontamination of all radioactive elements. Our solutions provide a cost effective method of preparing for and combating any type of nuclear disaster including a terrorist “dirty bomb” attack, an accident or maintenance at a nuclear power plant, or a nuclear weapon detonation. Our patent-pending solutions are revolutionizing the nuclear industry. RDS products have been shown in laboratory testing and in real world applications to significantly and safely remove radioactive material. The products perform to levels that scientists refer to as “high decontamination factors”. This means that, in many cases, almost all of the radioactive material can be removed using our products.

Our products are currently in use to remove radioactive material in many nuclear power plants, in nuclear waste facilities and in hospitals with nuclear medicine departments throughout the United States and abroad.

Our core technology is called the “Mass Effect” influence. By flooding any radioactive surface with our proprietary solutions, the radioactive material is lifted off the surface and suspended in solution where it can be easily wiped up and removed as radioactive waste. Each of our solutions is specially prepared to address a specific chemical group, they are ion-specific. Our Halogen Mass Effect solution will pick up all Halogens such as Iodine, Fluorine, Chlorine, etc. Our Transition Metal Mass Effect solution will pick up all Transition Metals such as Cesium, Cobalt, Strontium, Thallium, etc. Our Actinide Mass Effect solution will pick up all Actinide Metals such as Plutonium, Uranium, Technetium, Americium, Radium, etc. We have developed these solutions to make them user friendly and provide the most effective decontamination possible. Just spray on and wipe off. The solutions are water based and environmentally friendly.

RDS’ patent-pending solutions are revolutionary because they act to dislocate or “lift” radioactive ions from most non-porous surfaces into the water-based solutions. Our “Rad-Wipes” clean the surface and the radioactive material is transferred onto the wipes for rad-waste disposal.

OUR FOAMING CONCENTRATE HAS BEEN CERTIFIED FOR USE IN INTELAGARD’S MACAW BACKPACK AND THEIR OTHER COMPRESSED AIR FOAM (CAF) DECON SYSTEMS.

 

Ion Exchange Resins For Water Decon

Our Technology allows for radioactive contamination to be removed from a surface and transferred into a liquid where we can process it, concentrate it, and substantially reduce the volume of radioactive waste. RDS has developed ion-specific resins that will remove the radioactive material from the Mass Effect solutions and water sources. This is useful in large decontamination operations such as municipal water treatment, showers for mass human decontamination and in various projects in nuclear power plants. Contaminated Water or Mass Effect solution can be run through a resin bed where the radioactive material is captured then removed, thus allowing reuse of the Mass Effect solution or radioactive free water without affecting its original potability.     Our Ion-specific Resin beds will remove radioactive ions and pass through other non-radioactive ions thus extending the life of the bed and allowing less resin to be used and a very small volume for radioactive waste disposal.  They can be installed before or after a desalinization plant, thus guaranteeing radiation free water.  Most radiation beds remove all ions, radioactive or not, thus the life of the bed is greatly shortened.   Radiation Decontamination Solutions supplies upon request, consulting on the engineering specifications required by the project. Custom applications may range from as small as 20 liters per minute for bunker/palace applications to 1000 liters and above for desalination systems to provide radiation free water.    Portable resin systems can be produced scalable, to provide immediate and safe, radiation free water response to any nuclear incident, military or medical.   RDS has supplied a “test bed” system to Chemstruction Systems for use in Japan after the Fukishima disaster.  RDS traveled to Japan and supervised the demonstration where Cesium was successfully removed from water using our Transition Metal Resin bed.

In the Nuclear Power arena, we have provided our Transition Metal “Quick Decon” product to: nuclear power generator companies including Nebraska Power, Exelon Corp., Fla. Power and Light, Constellation Energy, First Energy, and Excel Energy.  This product is successfully used to decontaminate the core cavity during an outage. It is also useful in facility service and maintenance.
Since FDA has advised us that our product is acceptable for topical use on intact human skin, we have developed and sold kits to the general public concerned with personal and family safety issues relating to any nuclear event.  RDS is listed in the Responder’s Knowledge Base, a CCR registrant, listed in the GSA, DOE and DOD buyers guides, and also in the “Guide for the Selection of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Decontamination Equipment for Emergency First Responders” published by Department of Homeland Security in March, 2007. 
In the Decon and Decommissioning arena, we have sold our products to Safety and Ecology in Knoxville, Savannah River Site in Aiken, Northrop Grumman in Newport News, NMC in Yorktown, and Duratek in Barnwell, S.C., Varioline in Saudi Arabia, and Chemstruction Systems in Japan.
In the Hospital and Pharmaceutical arena, we have sold our products to hospitals to clean up treatment rooms after I-131 therapy for thyroid cancer.  Our Halogen (Iodowash) product is recommended exclusively by GE Healthcare Nuclear Pharmacies for any radioactive Iodine spills in their facilities.  We have recently developed a RadDecon Kit for Nuclear Pharmacies which contain all three of our Ion Specific Solutions, since they work with and may have spills of Iodine (halogen), Thallium (Transition Metal), and Technetium (Actinide). King Abdulaziz city for Science and Technology (KACST) in Saudi Arabia uses our products. We have also been recommended, by Dr. Carol Marcus in the DHS funded manual for L.A. county entitled “Medical Management of Radio-contaminated Patients” page 13, as the only product to use if soap and water isn’t effective as an application on topical human decontamination.

Radiation Decontamination Solutions, LLC (RDS) is committed to the health and safety of our employees, subcontractors, suppliers, independent consultants, and support personnel while on RDS controlled property. RDS strives to develop techniques that provide maximum production with minimal risk to employee safety. RDS has a mandatory program in place for the safety training of all new-hires and an annual refresher program for all employees.

All RDS facilities maintain an employee health program. Every facility has a primary health officer responsible for administering First Aid, CPR, and is trained in AED (Auto electronic defibrillation). Generally, the site health officer is also responsible for the PPE personal protective equipment, fire safety, and hazard communication program.

RDS maintains a policy of strict compliance to OSHA standards for manufacturing facilities.

 

Data Security

As a commercial organization, RDS recognizes the economic advantages, speed, and ease of utilizing technology for the transmission of data. RDS maintains a secure website and the latest security software on all RDS electronic devices. All historical data is stored on a secured, non-linked server with no external internet access. Under no circumstances will any part of any customer’s data be shared without the informed written consent of that customer. Any data share must be of significant technical importance to warrant inclusion.
